Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information renterupgrades.com collects, how it’s used and the choices you have. It takes effect on the date it was last updated, shown above.

The short version

• The calculators, letters and checklists run in your browser. What you type into them isn’t sent to us.
• There are no accounts, sign-ups or forms on the site.
• Some things are saved on your own device so the tools work better, and you can delete them.
• We don’t sell personal information.

What you type into the tools

Measurements, rents, names, addresses and anything else you enter into a calculator, letter or checklist stay in your browser. They aren’t uploaded, and letter and checklist answers are never added to the page’s web address. A calculator’s share link does contain the numbers you entered, so it only goes where you send it.

What’s saved on your device

The site uses your browser’s local storage, which stays on your device and isn’t sent to us, for two things:

• Your unit preference (imperial or metric), so calculators open the way you left them.
• Drafts of letters and checklists. Once you start typing, your answers (which can include names and addresses) are saved so you can come back to them. The Clear button on each letter or checklist deletes its draft, and clearing your browser’s data for this site deletes everything. On a shared or public computer, press Clear when you’re done.

The site’s own code doesn’t set cookies.

Emails you send us

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to read and answer your message, and we don’t add you to a mailing list. Ask us at any time to delete your messages.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. To deliver and protect the site, Cloudflare processes technical information about each visit, such as your IP address and the pages requested. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for how it handles that information.

Analytics

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people find and use the site, such as which pages they visit and where they come from. Google Analytics sets cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) that by default last up to two years, and Google may collect information about your activity on this site over time. Google says Google Analytics 4 doesn't log or store IP addresses.

We set it up to collect as little as possible:

• Advertising features, Google signals and ad personalization are turned off.
• No advertising cookies are set.
• If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, Google Analytics runs without analytics cookies.
• In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google Analytics runs without analytics cookies by default. Google may still receive basic information about the visit, such as the page you opened, without cookies.
• Besides page views, we count a few actions: using a calculator, copying a page's link, saving it to Pinterest, downloading, copying or printing a letter or checklist, and opening a suggested next tool. These events name the page and the button, never what you type into a tool, letter or checklist.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

The site's own code doesn't track you across other websites, so a browser's Do Not Track setting doesn't change how it works. When your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request not to use analytics cookies, as described above.

Links to other sites

Pages link to sources such as government websites, the guides on the blog link to product pages on Amazon, and the “Save” link on a page opens Pinterest. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which apply once you’re there. A link to Pinterest is a plain link: nothing from Pinterest loads on this site until you click it.

Advertising

The site doesn’t show ads today. Before ads start, this policy will be updated to name the company involved, what it collects and the choices you have.

Renter Upgrades doesn’t use affiliate links, and nothing from Amazon loads on this site: a link to Amazon is a plain link, and Amazon’s own privacy notice applies once you’re there.

Children

Renter Upgrades is meant for adults and isn’t directed to children under 13. We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we’ll delete it.

Your choices

• Delete letter and checklist drafts with the Clear button, or clear this site’s data in your browser settings.
• Turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser or with an extension that supports it.
• Ask us to delete any email you’ve sent.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. If a change affects what we collect or how we use it, we’ll note it at the top of this page.
