Put it in writing
A text or a phone call is easy to forget, and hard to prove later. A dated letter or a signed checklist is a record of what you asked for, what you agreed on and when. That record matters most when your deposit, a repair or your move-out date is on the line.
Each template is a short form. As you fill it in, the letter or checklist builds itself next to the form, with brackets marking anything still missing. When it's ready, copy the text into an email, print it or download a PDF.
Your answers stay with you
The letters and checklists are made in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded or put into a link. A draft is saved on your device so you can come back to it, and a Clear button deletes it, which is worth doing on a shared computer.
From move-in to move-out
The templates follow a rental from start to finish. Document the unit's condition with the move-in checklist before you unpack. While you live there, ask before you paint, request repairs in writing, answer a rent increase with arent increase letter and, if a month is tight, explain late rent with the late rent letter. When it's time to leave, give notice, work through the move-out checklist and, if your deposit doesn't come back on time, ask for it in writing. If you have to go before the lease ends, the break lease letter asks your landlord to let you out early, or gives notice when military orders give you the right to leave.
Check your lease and your state's rules
Deadlines, notice periods and repair rules depend on your lease and your state. The templates leave those details for you to fill in, and each page shows a few state examples with links to the laws. They're general information, not legal advice, and no letter can promise a result.
